Sal.vage: the act of saving something  in danger of being destroyed.
This past weekend my  man and I got to spend a couple of days in Boise , celebrating our 22 nd wedding Anniversary . We spent this much needed break visiting many antique shops all over the city. ( yes , he has turned junker too;)We had a lovely time  walking from shop to shop. When we weren’t { junking} we were  eating at some wonderful little { hole in the wall} restaurant . it was so nice to not have any agenda or responsibilities, other than to just take time to hang out  enjoying the beautiful fall weekend together.  That being said, on to how we met Sal… we were driving looking for a particular address, when by {accident} we drove past a shop that caught my eye, because of all the amazing junk setting all around in front. ( I love these kind of accidents :))  My dear husband quickly turned around , to haul his beloved back to this place! It soon became my favorite, so many wonderful vintage treasures . ( I could spend days there) Room after room, however, as wonderful and plentiful as the  treasure’s were displayed, one item in particular caught both our eyes, & captured our hearts as well… Sal… Here intermingled among all the antiques was a beautiful black & white manx tuxedo cat. He would follow us around purring loudly if we petted &  admired him, then wonder off and curl up on a stack of old flour sack linens in the sunshine , or his favorite spot seemed to be perched right on the front counter! We commented on what a unique { shop} cat he was . That’s when we learned he was a stray that had appeared there a few days before, and used the kitty door in the back to quickly make the shop his new residence. As much as the shop owners liked him, due to the busy street the shop was located on, and the recent tragedy of losing a kitty to it, they were planning to take him to the animal shelter Monday . We talked a bit petting him while they rang us up and said good bye…. However, I couldn’t get the kitty out of my mind… And when I mentioned it, my man confessed he thought of him too. We made a call and the rest is history. We now we’re traveling home from our weekend alone, with a { salvaged} kitty . Salvage: the act of saving something in danger of being destroyed. {Sal} the perfect name for our new friend & Little Vintage Place’s { shop} cat.  It just fits… My heart for salvaging everything, and giving it a new purpose &  my husbands love of it…
