{SWEET} MEMORIES…
0
- One of my fondest and oldest memories is rolling out and making homemade sugar cookies for Valentines Day. My Mama faithfully made these with us almost every year & I can picture her hands as if it were yesterday… I rarely let the holiday pass without enjoying the process with my own children. Yesterday was no exception. I love the smell of the sweet dough and the feel of it as I roll it out. It was fun to grab a vintage rolling pin & cookies cutters from my collection, and cut them out with my children.
- Even though the dough is fun I enjoy the decorating more… the more fun sprinkles and types of frosting the better!
- I captured this photo of the {perfect} sugar cookie in my six year old’s eyes! Vanilla frosting two inches thick with red-hot candy hearts! The frosting bag barely left his hands before this beauty met his lips!
- Some of my older children & I got a bit more elaborate in the decorating, but managed to get copious amounts of frosting on our sugar cookies as well.
- When all the decorating was done I loved seeing the how the personalities of each one of us was reflected in our {piece of art}. I had to get one of my vintage milk glass plates to display them in , of course, but the beauty lies in the memory.
- This Valentine’s Day morning as I entered my kitchen , to start a pot of coffee , there on the counter was the beautiful plate of valentine sugar cookies reminding me of the sweet time with my children & friends as well as the {lovely} tradition and memory my mama had taken the time to share with and pass on to me… I was so glad I hadn’t talked myself out of doing it with a thousand good reasons of why there wasn’t time and it is so messy! Oh, the beautiful MESS!
So today, on the holiday that is designed to celebrate {love}, I encourage you to make a {little } time to make a {big} mess… One you won’t regret and make some sweet memories with those you cherish.
Now, time for that coffee & one of those sweet cookies!:)
Happy Valentines Day!
